PLAY BALL!!!

Subscribe in a reader

There’s nothing more fun than watching some good ole’ fashioned Tee-Ball. The Busam Subaru sponsored Sharonville Shooting Stars were in action last night against Sharonville Ameristop.

One of many close plays during a great game!

The co-ed league is made up of 5 and 6 year olds playing their hearts out. These kids love it, and are passionate just like 5 or 6 year old should be. On one particular play a Shooting Star was called. As she walked off the field I could see her eyes swelling up, she walked over to her mom and started balling… her mom gave her a big hug and said, “it’s ok, everybody gets out sooner or later!”

These parents are the kind you want coaching your child’s team. Coaches Brian Williams and Kelly Meyer are awesome with the kids. Everything always positive, encouraging, and ensuring everyone is having a great time!

The league is structured to be instructional. Teams consist of 10-11 players. Everyone bats and everyone plays the field each inning. The ball is teed up each time by a coach who stays at home base. The batting team also has 1st and 3rd base coaches. For the fielding team 3-4 coaches in the field to control the chaos.

The quote of the night goes to two parents. I heard from a distance…

Parent 1 – “No playing in the dirt”

Parent 2 – (In a little girl’s voice) “But Daddy, that’s the best part!”

Check out some action shots from the game!

We love Tee-Ball!!!

What a Doggy Day!

On Sunday May 16th we hosted our second pet adoption day. The Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue, Ohio Pug Rescue, The League for Animal Welfare were on hand. Carolyn Evans, The PhoDOGrapher, was also on site to take pictures of all the pups.

The first to arrive was The League for Animal Welfare. Rebecca Porter, the event coordinator,  told me about The League’s bus, but I didn’t fully understand how cool this thing is!

This amazing bus was provided 100% paid for by an independent donor.

Shortly thereafter, The Ohio Pug Rescue and Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue arrived to get their booths set up and ready to go!

Let the Games Begin!

Throughout the day, the rescues performed dog washes as well. There’s nothing like seeing a pup getting a bath, and feeling that water for the first time! Check it out!

BRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! This is COLD!!!!

During the event each rescue and The Phodographer recorded messages about their time at Doggy Days.  Check them out at our YouTube Channel

We had a lot of fun! A big thank you goes out to Linda Stout of Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue, Rebecca Porter and John Doughty of The League for Animal Welfare and to Teresa Livesay and Jeff Devitt of Ohio Pug Rescue.

Do you know of a rescue who would like to participate in our next event? The more the merrier! Please contact me so we can get as many pups as possible placed in homes!

Hope you’re having a great week, and until next time I’m Andrew Shipp ^AS of Busam Automotive

Becoming a Part of the Busam Family

So excited for our first official guest blog. Tammy Coffin-Hana is a former employee at Busam, who has since moved on to pursue a career as a copywriter.  Check here out at Copy Cats, Inc.

Enjoy!

In the wake of a bad economy and a need for a better vehicle, many are left not knowing where to turn.  Consumers do want not only a car with great gas mileage and reliability, but they want to be able to buy from someone they can trust. They can most certainly trust Busam Nissan, Subaru/Suzuki.

Busam Nissan GM says "Thumbs Up!"

Having worked for them a few years ago, I can personally attest to the effort behind the business.  The Busam family has been in this business since 1909, and is a household name in Cincinnati.  Time and again I saw repeat business coming in from friends and family of previous buyers with the Busam dealerships.  Most of all, I got the pleasure of meeting some of the buyers and finding out what they had to say.  The echoing reply was, “I have been coming here for years and I wouldn’t buy a car anywhere else.”  This is something that instilled confidence in me to want to be a part of their business.

Growing up with a dad who was in the car business, I learned a lot about how trust is everything.  Dad would always tell me, “If people don’t trust you, they don’t buy from you”, and that statement has continued to stick with me.  When I first went to work for the Busam’s in 2007, I found out that the owner had the same idea.

John Busam didn’t believe that people would just walk onto the showroom floor and just pick out a car and drive it off the lot.  He wanted people to come in to the showroom, and be greeted by staff who would make them feel at home and guide the buyer through the whole process.  Mr. Busam wants the buyer to be educated about the vehicle they are buying, and leave knowing they bought a great quality vehicle for the best value.  Mr. Busam wants his customers to know that when they have questions, they can just pick up the phone and call at anytime.

Buying a car at Busam Nissan, or Subaru/Suzuki means becoming a part of the Busam family.  At this store you won’t find any buyers who just write checks and never return.  Buyers here are buyers for life, and that is the goal for this store because the family wants this business to grow and flourish.   A business that stands the test of time for over 100 years is a business anyone would want to be a part of.  This is why the Busam dealerships is “The Dealer Closest to Your Heart”.

Tell me if you’ve ever been here — You are slowing down to a stop light and out of nowhere, BAM, another driver isn’t paying attention and slams into the back of you.

You step out of your car to inspect the damage, and see you’re going to need some serious work done. The first thing you do is call your insurance company. You explain the situation and the insurance recommends a body shop. Did YOU know you don’t have to take your vehicle to your insurance recommended body shop.

You Are in Control

Many times these insurance recommended body shops do not sure factory certified parts or employ factory certified technicians. This can lead to problems down the road. Don’t let your insurance send you to an inferior body shop.

Bring your vehicle to Busam Automotive and we will become your ADVOCATE. We put ourselves in your shoes. We treat your car like its our personal vehicle. Working directly with the insurance company to ensure you get the highest quality factory certified products.

Puppy Dogs + Hot Dogs = Lots of fun! Yesterday was our pet adoption day: Doggy Days at Busam Subaru. We had such a great time and a great turnout.

Bark Bark --- Woof Woof (Translation = Doggy Days is Fun!)

Our Subaru showroom was packed with puppies and people. Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue, Ohio Pug Rescue and Sheltered Paws Rescue were out in force with some awesome looking dogs… and one duck!

A duck you say?! Yeah, this is a really great story. A baby duck was lost from her mama and family and had wondered up to our lot. In a moment straight out of the movies, one of the volunteers from Sheltered Paws Rescue took the baby duckling down to the pond and was able to reunite it with his family! It was so cool!

The day was also highlighted by a recently rescued St. Bernard named Barney! This dog was awesome. He was a gentle giant, especially with all the Pugs and Boston Terriers running around! We even got to give him a bath!

Barney is lookin' good!

The doggy wash was a lot of fun. We were able to get all the puppies nice and clean! At one point we had at least 30 dogs on the facility sniffing each other and making new friends.

Thanks so much to all the participating rescues for bringing all the animals out!

We had so much fun!

Doggy Days at Busam Subaru

Are you an animal lover? Are you looking for a new car? Well, Busam Subaru has just the event for you! Doggy Days at Busam is being held on Sunday April 25th. 4 local dog rescues will be on hand at our Subaru dealership to facilitate adoptions and answer questions. The event will last from 11 am – 3 pm (or whenever you stop playing with all the puppies!)

The 4 rescues on hand will be: The Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue, The Sheltered Paws Rescue, The Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue, and The Ohio Pug Rescue. Please visit their sites, these are 4 awesome organizations that are doing their part to help! The most awesome part about these local organizations is that they are 100% volunteer based!

To help offset costs, so these volunteers can continue to help, we will be donating $200 for each registered car sold or leased in conjunction with the event. The total money raised will be evenly distributed among the 4 rescue shelters.

Lots of  fun activities will be going on as well! A raffle with loads of great prizes will be held. A “doggy wash” will also be available for donations to the rescue centers. Attendees will get the opportunity to learn proper dog automotive safety from The Anderson Family Township Pet Center. Snacks and refreshments will be available for all in attendance.

We are really excited about this event and we hope you’ll be able to come out and join us! Please pass the word along so we can help these great local organizations!

Do you know of any other local dog rescues? Let us know, we are planning another pet adoption day next month!

Busam’s Greener Side

As we all know automobiles can be hard on the environment. With that being said, it’s very important for car dealers to do their part. Busam Automotive is dedicated to being an environmentally conscious business. According to John Busam, of Busam Automotive, “We do our best to recycle anything that can be recycled.” We recycle oil, aluminum, metal, paper, cardboard, and plastic — Here’s how!

Reusing the Oil

The most routine car maintenance is changing the oil. Keeping your oil fresh and clean helps your engine run better and prolongs the life of your car. When you get your oil changed at Busam you are doing good on two levels:

  1. You’re taking care of your car
  2. You’re helping us heat our shop!

We use Clean Burn. Click here to learn more about Clean Burn. This repurposes used oil into fuel to heat our shop to keep our technicians nice and warm during those cold Cincinnati winters!

Clean Burn System used at Busam Nissan and Busam Subaru

The Metal and Aluminum

Busam Automotive has a full service and collision center, because of that we replace lots of metal and aluminum parts. Busam takes all non-biodegradable substances to area repurposing facilities. The facilities re-use the aluminum and metal to help produce a cleaner environment.

Some metal and aluminum on their way to be recycled

The Office Side of the Automotive Business

There is a lot of paperwork and other administrative work that goes into buying a car; therefore we use lots of paper. In addition to paper we receive parts in large cardboard boxes, and have a thirsty staff that enjoys bottles of water and cans of pop. Busam ensures that our paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles find their way to the recycling!

What do you do to help the environment? We’d love to hear more suggestions!

Tips for Buying a Pre-Owned Vehicle

Subscribe in a reader

In our current economic climate, many people are deciding to trim back their spending and purchase a pre-owned or used vehicle. Buying pre-owned has a lot of really great advantages.

  1. Vehicles lose the largest percentage of their value in the first year
  2. You can probably get more features on a pre-owned vehicle for less money
  3. Lower car insurance on pre-owned vehicle

Busam is proud to be able to help buyers find the perfect vehicle for their needs. There are some various things to consider before shopping for a pre-owned vehicle. Take a minute and ask yourself a few questions:

  1. Do you need a car with high fuel efficiency?
  2. Are you buying a vehicle for a growing family, or downsizing to something smaller?
  3. What features as you looking for?

After you have decided on the type of vehicle that will fit your needs, it’s time to begin shopping. The days of picking up the paper, and going to the classifieds is over. There are countless sites devoted to pre-owned vehicles.  Here are three good places to get started online.

  1. Craigslist
  2. Autotrader
  3. Car dealership’s websites (www.busamnissan.com, www.busamsubaru.com, www.busamsuzuki.com)

Now that you have found some cars you are interested in, it’s time to speak with the seller. Unfortunately, over the years pre-owned vehicle sales have gotten a negative stigma. Scams and rip-offs have plagued the industry. Here are the essential questions you have to ask to avoid any problems with your new, pre-owned vehicle.

  1. What is the history on the car? (Number of owners?, trade-in or auction?)
  2. What has the seller done with the car since they received it? (Performed their own inspection, have they driven the vehicle personally?)
  3. What are your warranty options?

Buying a car is a big deal for anybody. There are so many variables, and things to consider, that it can get overwhelming. However, taking your time, and doing a little bit of research will really help.

Closing the deal on a pre-owned vehicle always feels great!

Do you have any other suggestions? We’d love to hear them!
